What dental crowns and bridges involves

A crown is a cover made to fit over a tooth that is broken, worn or weakened, often after a root canal. A bridge uses the teeth on either side of a gap to hold a replacement tooth in place. We make both to match your other teeth, and both are fixed, so they stay in your mouth rather than coming out for cleaning.

What happens at the appointment

We assess and prepare the tooth, then take an impression or a scan.

We may fit a temporary cover while your crown or bridge is being made.

We check the finished crown or bridge for fit, bite and appearance.

We fix it in place and show you how to clean around it.

Afterwards

You clean crowns and bridges much like natural teeth, with some extra care around the edges and underneath a bridge. We will show you the technique and what to watch out for.
